    1. I ve read through the six volumes of the Deviations series and found the entire series amazing though not always easy reading These are books that deal with the conflict between two societies living in close proximity, one of which must eat the flesh of the other in order to survive A covenant between them makes this terrible need possible, but the covenant breaks down and war ensues, creating problems that can only be resolved with the reestablishment of the covenant The entire story is rivetin [...]

    2. this series is a fascinating exploration of postmodern ethics in an age of depair, developing themes of conservatism and progress via a cannibalistic world where suffering is chronic, redemption only ever partial, and survival precarious but persistent.

    3. Having fallen in love with the characters from the first five books, I was extremely disappointed with the final book Rather than being a part of the series, it felt like an extremely long epilogue.EDIT I realized I skipped the fifth book in the series, which may have impacted my feelings for this book However, having read the fifth book now, I m not sure it did much to change my opinion of the final book.
