    1. This was incredibly depressing and infuriating What these women go through isome unbelievable Rape, mutilation, murder These are only some of the horrifying things women in Juarez, and many other places around the world, go through Feminism is important for these reasons The graphic novel got only 4 stars because even though the story is very important, I had issues with the flow and found it confusing to follow at times However, the art was harsh and direct, no point in beautifying or romantici [...]

    4. Very understated but moving depiction of the lives of women in Cuidad Juarez If your not familiar with Cuidad Juarez, it is a city in Mexico where women have been killed or disappeared in their thousands over the past decade and a half Attempts to quell the violence and capture the killers have failed pitifully What is good about this book is it is simply set in Cuidad Juarez and does not try to tackle mass murder of the city s women as some kind of trite puzzle to be solved or salacious serial [...]

    8. A brief, affecting graphic novel about the mass killings of women in Juarez, Mexico, seen through the eyes of a spirited woman named Alma Peggy Adam approaches the story using a personal narrative rather than reportage, showing how violence and the daily disappearance of women is both normal and disturbing at the same time and how it effects everyone in the city, including the men and Alma s young daughter The story doesn t try to tie up loose ends or give solutions Alma is a dimensional charact [...]

    9. Challenging subject matter but felt short changed on the details The narrative is too fragmentary and a bit of a mess came across as superficial and exploitative rather than informative in its approach The end left me unimpressed though I appreciated the style of the illustrations themselves.

    10. A great Book I hadn t heard anything much about the brutal murders of women in Juarez and when you start reading you aren t immediately confronted with them Instead, they filter in and in the background of the story of Alma and her courageous attempt to rid herself of the abuse by her fianc and start a new life. Also, I liked the drawing style of Adam She keeps everything quite simple, but her speech bubbles are adding a nice level to the depicted conversations.I thoroughly enjoyed no, that s t [...]

    13. Very bleak and sad but a worthwhile read At first I wasn t sure how I felt about the art but it s simplicity is really effective I like that it s a study of one person s life and how rampant crime might affect their attitudes and feelings as oppose to an attempt at solving what is going on.
