This book is about the lives of three men a union leader, a priest and a congressman the author s uncle whose lives intersect during the height of hysteria over Communists during the Cold War It shows how seriously lives were damaged and destroyed by baseless accusations, and how some people never recovered from what happened during that era I enjoyed reading this book, because while I vaguely was aware of what happened during the McCarthy era, I was not aware of how little evidence was required [...]
