    1. This is a book that I would highly recommend to readers that want to go beyond the shallow sword sorcery fantasy novel and step into a world filled with surprising depth and exciting character development The author has created a dark fantasy world where gods keep their fingers in the goings on of their followers, and believable, evil characters do their bidding These dark characters are driven by hatred, revenge, ego and a consuming lust for power, and you feel that as you turn the pages You st [...]

    2. Arwenna has her head chopped off and is then tortured in a hell dimension Through some miracle, she is resurrected and given another chance This is when she learns she has a greater calling, one that will test her mettle at every turn.KateMarie Collins captures the reader on the very first page Her characters are strong, both male and female, and they all show their weaknesses as well as their strengths no matter what situation they re in Collins knowledge of fantasy, especially quest fantasy, i [...]

    3. 5 Stars and a Magical Read Shout Out As a debut novel, Ms Collins has definitely showcased her talents as you try to guess ahead what will happen next in each epic scene only to be surprised and then by the end, you just can t wait to find the next installment of this series The characters were very well defined, her use of flashbacks to develop the past while moving through the present was exceptional and as I read I was able to visualize everything as she did such an excellent job of weaving i [...]

    4. 6. I received this book for a honest review Let me start by saying Ms Collins is a phenomenal writer Daughter of Hauk The Raven Chronicles Book 1 is a fantastic read I read it a second time to fully experience the adventure of her characters before writing the review Even better the second time. You re drawn you into a magical world of light and dark magic from page 1 The characters and story are full of richness As the author weaves the story you re right there with the characters The book is writt [...]

    7. I must confess, despite having played World of Warcraft a fair bit, Daughter of Hauk, by KateMarie Collins is not the type of fiction I would normally pick up and read However, from the opening pages the author placed me in a world filled with armor clad elves and half orcs wielding mighty swords and casting magical spells In short order I began cheering for the protagonist, Arwenna, as she and her gang carry on an epic adventure while battling their evil enemies I particularly enjoyed Collins v [...]

    8. Although the opening of the story was a bit confusing, it quickly became clear what was going on, and the story took off This was one of the best stories I ve read in a long time, with the perfect blend of fantasy, action, adventure, drama, and romance Collins has a wonderful writing style that is easy to follow and hard to put down I tried to guess at what would happen a few times along the way, but was mostly surprised at the outcomes that occured By the last third of the book, I had to read t [...]

    9. Some things in the story weren t quite clear for me And I thought the characters could use description But overall, KateMarie has penned a sprawling, often dark, action packed, emotional fantasy adventure Her story pushes the bounds of life and death, love and hatred, sacrifice and betrayal KateMarie never forgets that emotional content is the soul of art and of a grand tale And Daughter of Hauk is both.

    10. Enjoyed this book This book focused at least as much on character as on plot I prefer a strong plot, especially in epic fantasy, but strong characters enrich the experience immensely The magic is a little powerful than I usually prefer, and the dead don t always stay dead, but good twists and a satisfying climax makes it a To Be Recommended for me.
