    1. I kind of felt like I d snuck into some back area I wasn t really supposed to be when reading these poems Somewhere where I d been invited perhaps, but still wasn t really supposed to be I just got this sense of being at a level of mind below where language is abstracted to represent emotion instead of feeling it, somewhere multiple feelings good and bad, humor and fear, lust and revulsion occur simultaneously without contradiction Most of these are short, but they are marvelous I want to take t [...]

    2. Borrowed on KindleI m back, sort of Any blog posts that come later are on books I ve read last month I ve been in a book funk, but I m slowly coming back to reading This is going to be brief, because I didn t really like this much because it was just too, I don t know, shallow for me I liked it but didn t like it at the same time It was so so.Ana Carrete is a poet and an artist You will find some collage art that contains themes from the poems written in this collection And well, there s not muc [...]

    3. Giving all the stars to this collection of edgy, fun, and surprisingly deep poetry. Here are a few lines from one poem title omitted you ll have to read the whole collection to figure out where they came from the stress that we release is the product of not being allowed to feel okay while being honest

    4. Carrete does a great job at making serious subjects like relationships, heartbreak, sex sadness kind of irreverent Many of the poems feature this kind of aloof nature that endears the subject to the reader But it backfires when pieces appear that sharply shifts to a tone of pure anger, confusion, or fear Also, many of the pieces are written with a dry, hollow sadness that when compared to the other pieces seem to be missing their punchline Well written as a debut work.

    5. I really loved this book Each poem is a glass of fresh water in the desert, a smiling cat with neon teeth in a tree in the middle of the night It was great to read these poems with the good company of hilarious and playful illustrations Alt Lit at its best.

    6. Ana C has something to say about the world we live in and what it means to grow and live amid so much pop culture and technology and also the most human aspects of living that never change and she says it And you should see what she says.

    7. For the first time in my 22 years of life, I finished a book and immediately turned back to the first page so I could read it all again Ana Carrete stole my heart.
