    1. UPDATE 18th Jan 2013 I have just found out there are now 6 books planned for this series WooHoo I get to camp out on Ellery Mountain for a while to come just to keep them company of course From the start of this book, I fell in love with our two MC s Max a Fireman with a horny hose and Finn a Cop with a wicked weapon Max was a fulltime Fireman in the City, but when his sexuality becomes an issue and not only threatens his own life but the lives of others, he packs up and moves to the sleepy Town [...]

    2. Soe last book I read before The Fireman and the Cop was crappy Boo.Put me in a crap mood Double boo.So I had to call a television intervention and retry reading at a later time to get back into the swing of things No problem because Fall US primetime TV score Reading I started and stalled I rather let the book speak to me, connect with the characters, wait for the hook that I love.So five books in I will get back to those books, I swear , of starting and stallinge sixth one hooked me in Yay Is i [...]

    3. I thought I would be too busy to read this book today, official release day, but it is only 79 pages, so I read it on my lunch break My perfect storm of genres, Cops and firefighters Hot damn I thoroughly enjoyed Max, newly appointed volunteer firefighter in Ellery, TN and Finn, a young police officer Max rescues Finn, sparks literally flying, and they face some angst, lust, drama and romance sigh R.J Scott uses this book to set the stage for her next two books in the Ellery Mountain Series, The [...]

    4. 3 StarsThis first story in the Ellery Mountain series follows firefighter Max and cop Finn as they meet under extenuating circumstances and fall instantly into lust with one another There isn t much to the plot, with a small mystery surrounding the identity and motives of the firebug that began the fire that introduces Max and Finn The reveal of which was a bit ridiculous and fairly unrealistic, but seeing as the whole story had a fast paced feel, with limited character or plot development, I ba [...]

    5. Have to say I m a teeny weeny bit disappointed with this book I know RJ only does short books, but I didn t feel that the plot was fleshed out enough I knew who the baddie was going to be fairly early on as no new characters were introduced to throw the reader off, and you just knew that it was only going to be a matter of time before he succeeded in getting Finn on his own.RJ, I hope this doesn t upset you too much, but it s something I feel I have to say I ve noticed that you seem to be bringi [...]

    6. This book is so weird First, it reads like a rough first draft, with all the awkward sentence constructions, the typos, and grammar syntax mistakes Second, it uses British English spelling while it is set in Ellery Mountain, Tennessee Third, it seems like it aspires to be something between a standard whodunit and a romantic suspense novel but it falls so flat it s embarrassing.Eh At least it is short.

    7. What s not to like about a story featuring a cop and a fireman Max has recently moved to the small town where Finn and his gorgeous friends who will appear in future books in the series grew up The story starts with Max rescuing Finn from a burning building with an immediate connection forming between the two men What follows is a story of Max and Finn building their relationship while the arsonist continues to be at large.Hot men, hot sex, lives at risk, emotions being deniedHEA.

    8. 3.5 stars. This was a quick read with no real surprises It had the hot alpha fireman, the hot cop, hot friends who get their own books too which I will be reading for the hotness and smexy times The mystery is definitely backseat to the quick build of the relationship from lust to love It s one of those books you want to read after reading something that is draining, really deep or over the top angsty It will put you back in your happy place that s all comfy and familiar.

    9. Really cute story that just felt good from beginning to end Finn is one little hottie of a cop, and Max is a hot studly fireman who saves him and saves him and saves him again Poor Finn takes quite a beating in this story I wish it was a bit longer containing details about their budding relationship P.S I think Kieran and Daniel need their own stories.

    10. This story is an ordinary light romance between Finn a cop and Max a new fireman in the town In overall I liked the both MC s, but in my opinion everything happens to fast The storyline is to fast paced and to undeveloped I m sure it could be better.

    11. 3 1 2 4 stars Although it was short I liked the story, the characters were well written and I enjoyed the plot 1 hot cop and 1 hot firman in a relationship what s not to love about that NOTHING EXACTLY

    12. 3 3.5 Sweet Stars I like fireman the cop whispered After that line, Jeez, I was a goner and, I knew I would like this book The Book The MCs were lovable But, Max was my favorite , gosh he was strong, protective and oh so perfect I did love Finn as well, he was a sweetie without a doubt This is insta love served on a silver plater, not always my favorite but it worked The love story is adorable, I love that there is a great plot and plenty of action,it is a fast pace, ooh so sweet read.My only com [...]

    13. Reviewed on Hearts On Fire heartsonfirereviews Max Harrison is the new man on the fire department in the small town of Ellery There is a fire at the police headquarters and Max rushes into the collapsing building to save a man trapped inside He just gets the man out when the man starts hitting on him Officer Finn Ryan is that man and he is the typical stubborn Irishman While looking into the cause of the fire, he comes across evidence of arson A cut brake line on Finn s truck convinces Max that [...]

    14. 2.5 starsThe first part was sort of nice but like a lot of other plots in m m romances I ve read and I kept thinking RJ, you can do better than this but the book lost me completely when view spoiler the insane axe murdering ex ok, no actual axe showed up That s such a tired old trope hide spoiler but I probably will read the rest of the books in the series nevertheless, hoping the rest will be original.

    15. Great book, I loved Max and Finn Some of the lines were really nicely added and together the couple had great chemistry If it had been a bit longer I would have given it 5 stars Doesn t mean I didn t really enjoy it though I loved the fact we got to meet some of the future MC s too Kieran and Daniel were great in this.

    16. Why has it taken me so long to get to my first R.J.Scott book Two hot men in uniform, what s not to like.

    17. 3.5 starsThis is a nice story Finn is a cop who is rescued from a burning building by the new volunteer firefighter in town, Max Finn, in his injured state, unknowingly hits on Max within seconds of being rescued They get to know each other somewhat while Finn is in the hospital and then they quickly begin a relationship The only problem someone is trying to kill Finn and Max has to rescue him from these attempts several times before the person is caught.I enjoyed this I m a huge fan of this aut [...]

    18. 2.5 to 3 starsThe book seemed to take on too much for such a short story and was unable to focus enough on any one aspect While I liked the characters, I wasn t invested in the insta love between the two MC s I could understand the lust, but they didn t spend enough time together for me to actually get a feel for why they were so taken with each other after such a short amount of time, much of it with one character in the hospital or injured The story had potential but felt too rushed and was fu [...]

    19. These were terrific characters in need of a good plot I liked Max and Finn quite a lot but the story was much too short to really flesh out the characters or, indeed, their romance They both fall too easily, too soon I like RJ s writing but it s like we re just getting the tip of the iceberg with her This would have been a really good novel I wanted of Max s back story, interaction between all the characters, including the supporting cast of Finn s history and his friends I d like the author [...]

    20. 3.5 stars rounds up I liked the story was cute and sexy and crazy all wrapped into one The editing drove me nuts though.

    21. 2.5 stars So So I feel the need to point out right off the bat that not only is the fireman on the cover not blonde, but he has a borderline mullet Moving on.The premise of this is not so different from many other romances, both MM and MF That would be fine with me if the execution were a little better It was going along OK until the second incident view spoiler first the fire, then his brake lines were cut hide spoiler and from then on out things went rapid fire escalation and I lost the emotio [...]

    22. I was so disappointed I couldn t even believe it For one thing, the editing was atrocious Names of characters getting mixed up, misspelled words, funky sentences It was crazy and totally ruined any enjoyment I was getting out of the story Also, if you re going to set a book in America, please use American words Cozy is spelled with a z here, and we go to the hospital , not go to hospital There were several other instances of crazy making words and phrases, but I m too fed up to bother listing th [...]

    23. After reading about 20 BDSM books in a row, I decided I needed a break read this book to clear my palate I do like R.J Scott s books her characters are always lovely the angst is minimal BUT I did find this book a little bit frustrating I don t particularly like books where the misunderstandings could be so easily resolved with one simple conversation it makes me want to bang the character s heads together which kinda kills the mood this story won t go in my favourites pile but I ll probably rea [...]

    24. 1.5 s I don t know I really shouldn t rate it at all probably It just wasn t very good Oh well It had a shit ton of potential The characters could be interesting and the story itself held promise it just wasn t put together well and the errors really through me off Maybe if it has been longer and there was time to develop everything I don t know.

    25. Ugh This was not for me Guys meet and fall in lust with each other There are several time jumps in which we are told they get to know each other and fall for each other But we don t see WHY they fall for each other side from knowing they like each other s hose or weapon.Second and last book I read by this author Her story telling style is just not for me.

    26. I so wanted to like this book I tried really hard, but the story was not nearly good enough for me to get past all the editing errors I was excited at the prospect of a new series, but I m not even going to read any in the series.

    27. I really liked this Great story, good characters, and they were smokin hot together I think this was a great start to a new series from one of my favorite authors I m really looking forward to the next book in the series.

    28. Way too rushed for my taste, and the editing wasn t great either I noticed a couple of wrong names, and with the names Finn and Quinn, I thought for a minute I was watching an episode of Glee.
