    1. Wow Such a compelling read, and the characters are so realistic This book truly touched my heart I love the characters Tears build up in my eyes just reflecting on it It was very rich in human emotions I would definitely recommend it

    2. Tear jerker ending.A story of people s rights being violated by bad politician and his big deal supporters This involves old ranchers, wild horses, lost love, guilt, New found family Has a little rough but not vulgar talk A town who comes around a growly old man A good politicians involvement great read You can t but like the twists and turns Many things could be said but rtf read it for yourself

    3. Awesome Book I loved this book It is the story of a love that could have and should have been, told mostly by an ageing man with many regrets If you like a book that makes your heart swell up to full this is it I highly recommend.

    4. This book seems tailor made for me I m particularly fond of stories from the wild west, and I ve got mostly Irish blood in my veins But I barely made it through The Irish Cowboy, which struggles mightily to garner even a 2 bill star rating I m definitely getting soft and squishy in my old age.The writing is plain jane I m fine with that, but it s not smart The characters are 2 D The Montana landscape should be a highlight, but everything is poorly drawn by our boring third person narrator One co [...]

    5. I am a sucker about books written about and set in Montana The author has produced a C.J Box like novel focusing on uses and love of the land, out of control greedy BLM agents, the rights and lack thereof of wild horses, and newly found grandkids Hap Wilkes didn t know he had Through in an old romance that was abandoned but never forgotten, a sheriff and former sheriff who took on the cause, and other political figures A fun read with hints of magical realism in some of the dream sequences I fou [...]

    6. This may have been a past love and lost damnation romance novel many moons ago, but this is very much a love found redemption romantic underdog novel Everything I wanted to read about the past, present, and future trials and tribulations of a troubled soul and their journey to the other side I respect the authors monologue, and his common courtesy of language and the times we live in The characters all had points to prove and journeys to endure, and each found their paths and unity in one anothe [...]

    7. Haunting novelSimply put this is a haunting novel of how life isn t fair journeys aren t straight forward but in the end life always evolves into what it is suppose to be after all It s about fate, destiny and karma This was about how love always finds a way.

    8. A big sky tale worth readingAn enjoyable quick read, very accurate portrayal of a true Montana native and his battle with authority, life and love Would make a great movie starring Sam Elliot.

    9. Easy comfortable development Good story enjoyable book to relax with A delightful change as the good guy wins No dirty language or sex.

    10. Hap Wilkes, known to his neighbors as the Irish Cowboy, is an old man, Crippled by a stroke, and lamenting past decisions that represent a great loss, he has little left but his land, his old dog, and the wild horses that roam free Then, the government, in the guise of protecting an endangered species, is set to take all that he has left.Wilkes might be old, but he s still a force to be reckoned with, and is willing to die to protect what s his He finds allies in his fight, when two grandchildre [...]

    13. Interesting readA thought provoking story that gives a good perspective of life and its choices Well worth reading and very enjoyable

    14. Greed and bad government opposed by fairness and love.Good Western Story that shows how love of family and friends can support an old cowboy when greed tries to wipe him out There are special loves if we can recognize and have the courage to fight for them The need to support what is right is something all people must be aware of before we lose it Corruption and greed must be fought against for the betterment of our future generations Encourage you to read this.

    15. Omg This was goodI loved this story It reminded me of water for elephants with the flash backs to younger days I loved how the community stood behind the loner cowboy I loved the second chance for happiness I just loved this book.

    16. I finished this story with tears.n This story spoke to me on many levels At 71 years of age, with many difficult years behind and not enough joy I felt a part of it repeatedly Without the assurance of eternity with my loved ones God s strength to rest in, life would have no value, no hope I ve read most of D.W Ulsterman s books no matter the venue they are exceptional Keep them coming

    17. The Irish CowboyMr Ulsterman , is truly a good writer I just found a new author for me This book was so hard to put down I felt as though I was reading a true story about regrets in life, the loss of loves in life The old Irish cowboy, Hap, goes through so much in his life and having to deal with the government trying to take what little is left hurts In this day and time this could actually happen to a person Extremely good read all I can say is enjoy.

    18. Credence to what is happening NOW This is a very poignant and pretty much what is going on in our once proud country The rich, powerful and greedy are taking any way they can They could care less about anything or anyone as long as they get their own riches and the peons doing their dirty work for them, taking the fall.o

    19. If you re looking for sadness regretThis is a sad book with a dim light at the end The resolve of the story was not as sweet as it could have been, the amount of animal lives lost and sadness of all the lives involved has left me feeling empty I need to go start a new book to find some comfort

    20. The story was 5 but the quality of the writing did not seem to measure up to the quality of the story, nevertheless, this was a really great read that could have been better with some polishing.

    21. Not your typical westernEnjoyable easy read kept my interest to the end I would recommend this book to others A special story of love and life.

    22. Loved itI simply could not put this book down Really cried for Hap and Shirley A love not to be But left me with a good feeling

    23. Great storylineNever heard of this author, but glad I took a chance to read his book Surprisingly a great storyline Once I got started, I couldn t put it down.
