    1. Messner is an egomaniac, but I love him anyway If I could go up Everest without oxygen mind you maybe I could citicize him, but for now I will savor his stories I think I need to schedule a trip to one of his museums and catch a Yeti in the surrounding fields.

    2. I m not a big fan of autobiographiesually when people recommend me a book from this genre we have the same type of conversation I swear, it already happened at least three times which sounds something like this hey, you have to read this bookuhm i will check it out on sometime, I mean like asaplook, autobiographies just not my cup of tea, i know, that s odd suspicious look if you are just not interested in my recommendations thats ok, you can just say it, I won t blow up agh, seriously, can t fi [...]

    4. Great book Probably not everyone will like Messner since he s an individual that lives by his own rules and never gives in to pressure from others about what he should do, or who he should be sometimes at the expense of other people s egos and expectations That kind of uncompromising way of living can be easily perceived as harsh and unsentimental But, objectively, Messner seems to be a person with a lot of integrity and willingness to help others, having put a lot of effort in improving his hom [...]

    6. This was an easy to read book, a series of conversations and interviews, but the man speaking is so unique in his achievements, so crystal clear in his understanding of what drives him and his life s purpose that I ended up going back and rereading and making notes on most subjects he touched Self sufficiency, ecology and environment, and political dialog in the age if globalization particularly struck a note It is really not so much about being the world s most accomplished alpinist, it is abou [...]

    7. I ve followed the career of Reinhold Messner for many years and read many of his other books This one is very different published as a dialogue between him and a very knowledgeable journalist.I like this unusual style which presents a much brighter and insightful view of Messner s personality than any previous adventure mountain reportage book.Great book but I guess for existing Messner fans only don t make this the first book you read about him or his amazing adventures achievements.

    8. Not bad and a short one to start reading the most known Messner s autobiographic book The Crystal Horizon Everest The first solo ascent.

    9. A good overview of Messner s accomplishments, from the Alps, to the Himalayas, to his long distance adventures in cold and hot places, EU politics, and the museums I was familiar with the first two, having read his earlier books, but knew nothing of what he did after finishing off the eight thousanders and the seven summits I enjoyed catching up and for the first time saw the philosophical side of Reinhold it was probably there in the earlier books, but I was focused on the details of climbing [...]

    10. A selection of two oral autobiographical interview conversations in 2004 and 2014 with the editor translator How well you understand and appreciate Reinhold Messner depends how well you know whom he is and what he has done He basically has no peers from his era of the 1960s through the 1980s.He s also had trouble with the various attempts at English translation going back to the Seventh Grade Most Extreme Climbing , and I suspect this translation is little better I was briefed years ago by Micha [...]

    11. Bridger,AlmBlackburnEnglish 94 8 2015Life at the limitReinhold Messner this is the name of the man that i look up to one day i would like to travel the world and climb just like he did He had a free spirit and did what he wanted to do with his life he didn t let anyone tell him what to do.As a young boy he lived in a valley in switzerland with only a few people living there he did what he wanted he had mountains right out of his door and he would just go climb all day long His parents were prett [...]

    12. Reading this book and engaging with Messner s life and activities I find myself wondering, whether it is fascination, jealousy ore the mere lack of understanding that keeps my sticking to this man A very intimate insight into his upbringing Messner keeps talking about his parents, especially the moment, when M discovered that at the age of 12 or 13 he could climb routes which his father was never able to reach, brought up the thought of when it is the time to step out of the shadows of your ance [...]

    13. This is a good overview of Messner s life The book takes the form of an extended interview with a kind and supportive questioner, and Messner gets to tell his story His story is interesting, and he has seen and done things that no one else on this planet has ever done This is a good overview of his life if you are unfamiliar. However, if you want the technical details of his climbing career, the details of specific climbs, or his life story there are better, detailed, specific books It is also n [...]

    14. Well The start of the book was good Really about climbing, whereas the rest of the book was about politics and Messner s museums. They are important and nice, but don t go to the category of My life at the limit Maybe they go to that category when I m 70 But not nowWould I recommend If you don t have anything else to do.

    15. I loved this book There s no one in the world like Messner and it was like hearing him speak to read this I had seen the film, a short documentary, and found the book Entertaining, inspiring and just wonderful.

    16. It was okay. Not as detailed on his climbing ventures as I would have hoped, though I knew this going in Too much of the book was focused on his museums, which I find to be the least interesting aspect to read about.

    17. I did not expect the interview format of the book, but nonetheless Reinhold has lived a very adventurous if maybe a little lonely life and has some great stories to tell.

    18. der Gipfel f r jeden Messner Fan.Ein Buch mit sch nen Zitaten und Fotos Hervorragendes Preis Leistungs Verh ltnis

    19. Such a fascinating man Question and answer format Quick and easy to read If you like rock climbing or mountaineering this book is a must read

    20. Well, there are many many things one could say about Messner and many of them would be unflattering, but boring is definitely not one of them.
