    1. Just finished this book for the second time, and it was just as enjoyable I stand by everything I said in my first review.LOVED Sibella hits the mark once again with this prequel to her awesome Raleigh Harmon series In Stone and Spark, Raleigh is fifteen and just starting to get into geology It was so neat to follow her at this age and nod my head at some of the familiar people and landmarks I know will play an important role in the adult books It feels like Sibella was truly free in her writing [...]

    2. If I could award this book than five stars, I would It kept me glued to the pages all day I was not surprised, though, since I am truly a fan of this gifted author and her intrepid heroine, Raleigh Harmon It was a unique treat to be able to join fifteen year old Raleigh on one of her first big mysteries, even while five of her grown up sagas reside on my bookshelf She is such a real person to mee writing is that good Where do I begin, in reviewing the book I need to tell you that I had to go ba [...]

    3. Could Not Put This Down Raleigh s frustration and anger with her professor Teddy s seemingly reluctant help with the search parallels her ambivalent relationship with God The red herrings are plentiful I was completely surprised with the ending Excellent thought provoking mystery

    4. This is a great prequel to the Raleigh Harmon series It gives background to Raleigh that helps understand her All Raleigh Harmon fans need to read this one.

    5. I pushed myself to finish this book mainly because I couldn t stand not knowing how it would end On a general rating I might give this three stars because it held my attention and there were some great moments throughout, but because of content and lack of Spiritual content, I was pretty disappointed by this book What I didn t like There were at least a half a dozen profanities of God s name Guys, that s not okay at all Several uses of one swear word, as well as a couple other euphemisms that ju [...]

    6. I really enjoy these Harmon mysteries This is my second, but this one differs from the first in that this is about when Raleigh is just a teen Even so I found myself pulled into the story and it was just as hard to put down as the first one I read The Stones Cry Out The writing is so insightful For example when Raleigh has a conversation with a fellow classmate, Tinsley, whom she distrusts for good reason, she describes her this way I notice her skint a blemish I decide evil had to look this goo [...]

    7. Raleigh Harmon is a fifteen year old high schooler who doesn t have friends except for her best friend, Drew Levinson The two girls bonded a few years back because they share the same brainy intelligence and similar family issues When Drew goes missing, Raleigh has a difficult time getting anyone to consider that Drew has been abducted including Drew s dysfunctional parents Will Raleigh be able to solve Drew s disappearance before it s too late I enjoyed this book on many levels I love books tha [...]

    8. This was my first book by this author, and I enjoyed the many layers to this mystery I look forward to the rest of the series and moving onto the books of Raleigh as an adult.

    9. The perfect beginning to Raleigh Harmon s story Superbly delves into all the facets that define Raleigh, yet leaves you on pins an needles waiting to read .

    10. I ve read nearly all of Sibella Giorello s books in her Raleigh Harmon mystery series The stories are intense and packed with descriptive geological information Not long ago, I discovered Giorello had written three prequel novels to the series, with Raleigh as a teenaged amateur detective So I ordered Stone and Spark and settled in for what I thought would be a quick and enjoyable story. When you pick up a book that s geared toward a young adult audience, you have certain expectations Especially [...]

    11. Better than the adult Raleigh Okay, I won t say better because I ve only read the first of that series But this was really great I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys mysteries I think it would be great for older teenaged girls I say older because there is definitely sadness and tragedy.

    12. Very engaging Kept me reading to see what happens next I would recommend it to my friends.I can t believe that this is a first book It seems so polished I give this book a 4 star rating.

    13. Raleigh I really like this mystery series and her prequels are just as good I never seem to know who the culprit is until Raleigh figures it out I enjoy Raleigh s character and the sub storyline that runs through this series.

    14. Quite interesting for a young adult book I learned alot about geology, baseball dirt and dirt in general Deduction and process But there is NO WAY in Hell my parents you d let me galavant all over the place at all hours of the day like this.

    15. Great readGreat read Keeps you wanting Set in the old South in Richmond,Va Great for a first book of a new series

    16. Good bookAn interesting story that keeps your attention A mystery that keeps you guessing I would recommend this book to others.

    17. This book was a lot better than I expected for a free book The suspense was engrossing, it definitely kept my attention I finished the book in two days Giroello s writing is good she is very descriptive about many events, room settings and mannerisms of her characters I felt like I really knew Raleigh and Drew, even though Drew wasn t present in most of the book The story flowed well, the book was well thought out and parts of the writing itself were intelligent I enjoyed the geology and physics [...]

    18. YA young adult books not dystopian, but present day are extremely challenging to write It s TOUGH accessing a fifteen year old s head and heart in real life, much less expressing all those emotions and struggles and confusion proficiently in writing But, of course, Sibella Giorello is a MASTER at everything she writes She nails young Raleigh perfectly and poignantly and powerfully This book was incredible, revealing Raleigh s daily struggles with a tumultuous home life, being attacked at school [...]

    19. Sibella Giorello goes back in time and gives us a new series about Raleigh Harmon as a teenager When her best friend Drew goes missing, Raleigh is sure that something terrible has happened, but no one will believe her not even the police Her only friend is a gruff but good hearted teacher who encourages her to observe, learn, and keep on seeking the answers Raleigh uses her budding interest in geology to help her uncover the clues I loved this book I d already read the adult series, and I was so [...]

    20. Fifteen year old Raleigh Harmon isn t exactly living the dream Her mother suffers from mental illness, her dad works full time as a judge and worries constantly about his wife when he s home, and her sister has escaped to college Her best friend Drew is the only bright spot in her life. When Drew goes missing, Raleigh knows something terrible has happened Sadly no one will listen Everyone, including Drew s parents and teachers, thinks she ran away Even worse, the police accuse Raleigh of being in [...]

    21. So far this book has been very entertaining I haven t read all of it so I m not sure how everything ends because my opinion on the book my change when I m finished But, this book is a page turning so far The fifteen year old Raleigh Harmon wants to tell her best friend But, her friend Drew is gone, really gone She goes on a search to fine her best friend The police aren t on her side but she wonders if she chose to leave because of her parents that are loons Or if her best friend was taken and d [...]

    22. Very engaging story line If you have not read the mature Raleigh books, it will leave you wondering what will become of this young lady who is surrounded by dysfunction This book, like the others, gives a glimpse of how the mental illness of a parent can alter one s own life I found myself getting very angry at Raleigh s father, who makes the choice to keep her mother out of an institution at the expense of both of his daughters This decision prevents Raleigh from feeling safe and loved in her o [...]

    23. Because I read all the grown up Raleigh Harmon Mysteries and adore them, I was thrilled to discover Sibella Fiorello has launched a new prequel series featuring Raleigh as a precocious fifteen year old What fun to peak into the beginnings of her brilliance And this little book does not disappoint I practically inhaled it, not wanting to stop reading The characters are crisp and fresh, the writing is breathtakingly vivid and lively Unforgettable even I m guessing this is YA, but the plot captivat [...]

    24. This mystery held my attention I really didn t guess who kidnapped her friend until she finally put the pieces together You literally had to read the whole story to know who was responsible, which is what really got me A lot of mysteries I can guess before I am even half way thru but this one got me I plan to read by this author.

    25. I ve read all the Raleigh Harmon books and loved them Going back to Raleigh s teen years in this book is pure genius and great fun The story is absolute entertainment Giorello s writing had me laughing out loud one minute, tearing up the next, and totally sucked into the mystery with page turning obsession Can t wait for the next book

    26. Missing LoveI chose 4 only because this story is too drawn out to engage most readers The metaphors and analogies are fantastic The references and explanations of geology are great There are many good things about this mystery, but unless the readers like learning, they will not have the patience to finish reading.

    27. This is the first of three prequels to the Raleigh Harmon series I wasn t sure that l would be interested in the then 15 year old Raleigh, but it proved to be quite interesting I liked the backgound information, the story was engaging, and l plan to read the two remaining booksd a re read of the grown up Raleigh books as well.
