    1. A wonderful title, and beautiful writing, the atmospheric descriptions Lightning flickered and dark clouds glowered over the hilltop, their rain heavy bases lit from within by sullen flashes There is a graphic scene of rescuing a lamb from its dead mother s uterus in the midst of a summer storm But this is not a dark story.Dougie drifts in and out of the story as clouds swirl and drop their moisture over the mountains and valleys of a remote Scottish island And time swings and spans between the [...]

    2. This was a beautiful tale of the timelessness of the land and of how it is endlessly tied to both earthy and unearthly beings Sushila, a tortured soul, meets the strange man Dougie on the hill above her late father s cottage It didn t take long for me to realise that Dougie was no ordinary man but exactly what he was remained still up for grabs to the very end of the book The love tale that unfolds between them is punctuated by intrusive haunting memories of people who lived on and loved the isl [...]

    3. This is an engaging supernatural love story with a pleasantly ambiguous ending Grieving Sushila Mackenzie arrives on a remote Scottish island to close up her late father s house She is mourning the loss of a husband, mother and unborn child and bearing the scars from surviving an Asian tsunami some years previously She meets a local hill farmer, Dougie MacLean and a tentative romance blossoms, becoming a passionate relationship Dougie, however, is dead.During the story, Sushila recounts her life [...]

    4. A story as beautiful and as spiritual as its Scottish setting, I thoroughly enjoyed Walking on Wild Air When Shushila Mackenzie returns to her father s highland home, she meets the enigmatic Dougie and they quickly form a bond A man of the mountain, Dougie s story weaves backwards and forwards in time, giving us an insight into the vast strangeness of his life A love story with gentle paranormal leanings, both main protagonists are easy to warm too, and, as much as we are given Dougie s backstor [...]

    5. I read the other reviews here after I finished the novel I m glad I did that, because some of them give too much away. There is something of the paranormal in this novel a genre I m not familiar with It took me a while to get used to that, but when I decided to open up to it, I enjoyed the story The plot is excellent and so is the writing There are some wonderful descriptions.I did get a little confused with the additional stories, because I wasn t sure about their connection to the main story If [...]

    6. I received a free copy a this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review It was a hard read The book was confusing at time and made the flow of the story not very enjoyable I wish the author had kept the story to Sushila and Dougie and did not jump to these other random stories about the people who died on the hill These alternate stories brought nothing to the plot they were actually confusing I think the book also left me with too many unanswered questions It had too many loose ends Th [...]

    7. Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC This story was very beautiful and flowed so nicely The relationship between Sushila and Dougie was palpable and pure At times the story seemed a bit disjointed and confusing, but I think that this was done intentionally so that as a reader, you could feel the story as the characters did I thought the experiences of Sushila and Dougie were woven together remarkably well and am tucking myself in for the night full of this great book.I received a copy of this bo [...]

    8. This is an enchanting story The love story between Sushila and Dougie is beautiful, healing and tragic all at the same time As for the other characters in the book, they are all weaved intricately into Dougie and through him into Sushila, giving the book a whole new dimension, far intriguing than the classic love story Highly recommend it
