    1. Y is for YardleyRead a book on the bottom of your to read list 2 starsOk guys, it s time for Jess s annual drunk Christmas review My parents have a big Christmas party every year with friends and we eat lots and lots of food and drink lots and lots of booze So by the end of the night, I am usually feeling a little tipsy, pretty festive, and quite in the mood to review something I read this book awhile ago but never got around to reviewing it I think 2 stars is kinda generous But usually generous [...]

    2. More of a horror story than a fairy taleAlthough Ravish The Awakening of Sleeping Beauty is clearly a very adult adaptation of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale, this story comes across as a chilling tale of horror in this reader s opinion It would have been better in novella length, with the plot tighter and faster and with fewer of the repetitious steamy scenes that at times slowed things down.A good versus evil romanceThe heroine, Rory Jaquqard, was intriguing near the end when she was operatin [...]

    3. Well this was a different take on Sleeping Beauty, comas, voodoo, doctors and stuffy parents lol The bedroom scenes were pretty smoking but the rest of the book fell a little short for me I did like Jacob and Rory but wanted to smack him for not realizing view spoiler that Rory s brain activity stemmed from their shared dreams It was so obvious that I hard time believing this big shot neurologist didn t put 2 and 2 together hide spoiler But that being said it was entertaining enough and I might [...]

    4. Come on people this IS erotica Don t get it twisted The ratio of story line to sex is fairly balanced IMHO This fantasy keeps you engaged in the mystery of sleeping beauty while providing a healthy dose of steamy hot monkey love.I am a person who loves fairy tales And erotica I am gaga over this book because of the novelty of it being an erotic fairy tale My first one I would not consider this an erotic romance But it is pure adult fantasy Ravish is about a logical man who is engaged in the most [...]

    5. I REALLY wish there was character development Dialogue and reactions are what primarily irked me the most about this tale Rory, Jacob, and all the secondary characters appeared 2D than any other book I ve read Not to say that I m necessarily flaming this book, mind you, but I just find it hard to believe that everyone could live happily ever after when 75% of the book was about sex. Then again, most of the story was based upon the dream world Maybe that s why I feel so skeptical about some of t [...]

    6. The surprising thing about this book is that it really isn t too bad I noticed that there s a lot of people who feel like this was one long sex scene, but its erotica, of course it s mostly sex scenes. The whole sleeping beauty story is modernized using voodoo magic as the root of the enchantment The Prince , aka Doctor, falls in love with the heroine through sexual dreams while she is in a coma sleep state There s a secondary love story with the Doctor s younger brother and a voodoo priestess Th [...]

    7. meh the story line was interesting but the sex scenes were dull, repeats really from her other book crave this reminds me, slightly, of 50 shades and the redundancy of words used and situations replayed it loses its appeal loses its sexiness when you can expect what will happen it s not erotic when you can predict how the scene will play out because two pages before, it has already happened like I said, meh.

    8. Started this book on the reviews I had read on here It didnt even take me 24 hours to read it although I did skim read parts of it I know its fiction but it was still a little out there for my taste Theres no denying, theres alot of sex in this book and sometimes it did get a little samey other parts of it were quite hot A quick read and you dont necessary get invested in the characters so i have given it 2 stars.

    9. Ravish The Awakening of Sleeping Beauty is the third book of these fairy tales inspired books As with the other two books, I found myself interested in the story than the romance steam between the two characters.

    10. The plot was a good idea, however that is quickly overshadowed by the fact that most of the book is about sex and the plot is peppered in between the sex scenes.

    11. A creative way to turn Sleeping Beauty into erotica while studiously avoiding rape and necrophilia and adultery and generally predatory awfulness la Giambattista Basile I don t know enough about voodoo to comment on its representation in the book, but it made me wary of caricaturistic cultural depictions I was not satisfied with the way Rory remained an extremely passive character throughout, and thought the plot might have been improved at many points.

    12. I always enjoy retellings, but this one took a turn I wasn t very interested in I liked being able to learn a little about a different culture and belief system, but I felt like that theme took me out of the story a bit I did not really connect with the main characters, and felt like the secondary characters needed development Overall I d give it 1.5 Stars.

    13. I actually just picked this book off my shelf today forgetting I had already read it until I got to about page 6 or 7 and then I skepped ahead to verify why I had forgotten it and why I hadn t enjoyed it The book has a very interesting permise but fails in the execution There is little plot or character development in my opinion and the book becomes about the sex scenes and not even ones that help my interest much as they did not develop or add to the story development I enjoy erotic romances th [...]

    14. What can I say There s been a lot of football on the telly in our house recently and I didn t want to get engrossed in something big and brilliant while I waited for my two awesome loaners turned up.In yet another erotic retelling of Sleeping Beauty, this time Rory is a young woman on holiday on a Carribean island, about to lose her virginity, when she falls into a coma Jacob White is the brilliant neurosurgeon or something brought in by her wealthy family six years into said coma Jacob soon sta [...]

    15. Actually I d read this one long time ago but forget the story duh Or maybe I skipping some pages, can t remember it too doubleduhIf I compare with its predecessor Crave The Seduction of Snow White, Ravish of course have a going on and on and on sex fest, but then I enjoy this than Crave. What I remember a bit is the heroine was cursed to sleep after her first attempt to make love with her new boyfriend Years later her parents ask a doctor named Jacob to cure her Jacob believe her sleep condition [...]

    16. SPOILERS LOTS OF SPsI would this book was pretty foolish to begin with like even though she is a virgin that doesn t supposively mean she s innocent She 21 for God sake Her actions and character I believe did not fit her age regardless of her sexual experience or better lack of it What really got me rolling my eyes was when she asked him if she can touch it which was probably one made me wanna roll my eyes at her stupidity and two made me wanna throw up at her childish nature also the part she g [...]

    17. I really enjoyed this book Cathy Yardley took the story of Sleeping Beauty and brought it to modern times and used a story I never would have thought of and it actually made sense I have to admit that the ritual at the end when Serafina shows up had me full of suspense, but I closed the book with a smile on my face Not only did you have the love story between Rory and Jacob, but another love story between Aaron and his ex girlfriend, the drama the Jacquard s went through and their pain of knowin [...]

    18. Ravish The Awakening of Sleeping Beauty by Cathy Yardley, a Kindle book I began reading on September 17th It s really to be noted that this book was written prior to Enslave whereas I read it the same day but the evening after reading Enslave Yeah, that or less makes sense.Ravish is for sure the Robin to Enslave s Batman a freshman first attempt for Yardley, fanciful, difficult to accept and roll with at parts, but you see hints of greatness of the books to follow The fairy tale come true conce [...]

    19. Since this is an adult version of the fairy tale, I was expecting some risque content However, this was borderline pornographic I wouldn t have minded it so much if it didn t take about 80 pages to get to the real plot of the story, which turned out to be very interesting I feel like the emphasis of the story was on the sex and not on character development It just sort of fell short, and I didn t feel a connection with the characters, so even though the plot was interesting, I didn t find mysel [...]

    20. This was an interesting spin on Sleeping Beauty I was really enjoying it at the beginning of the book The characters were developed nicely, Yardley does a wonderful job of developing the people in the story The struggles Jacob goes through to save Rory, and the struggles he goes through dealing with his feelings and relationship to Rory was believeable. However, the cure to Rory s problem was disappointing and far fetched I didn t like it at all and I couldn t wait to get to the end of the book, [...]

    21. The only reason I gave this 2 stars is because I like the idea of it The plot was badly written and all over the place What there was of a plot anyway But let s face it, no one reads a book like this for the plot It is erotica in every sense of the word The love scenes were repetitive and man were there many phew The plot is all over the place and really makes no sense It is sort of thrown in there and very stunted But the idea of it is rather interesting Sadly, not the worst thing I have ever r [...]

    22. 2 and half stars.A re telling of Sleeping Beauty I did enjoy the plot line Unusual for this type of book, in my opinion to have any type of coherent plot line Most of the action takes place in a dream world, which make the connections between the main characters strange, even for a fantasy novel The blue parts are monogamous, between loving men women They all kind of ran together after awhile, they were less then exciting and I just started skimming over them Rather vanilla, and every day the co [...]

    23. This is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but done in a adult manner If you are looking for an updated version with a lot of sex worked into the storyline then this is your book I am always impressed when an author can make sex an integral part of an erotic story rather than it just being stuck in to get the label Yardley does an excellent job of bringing those two things together I just got Crave and Enslave and hope they are as well written as this one She also writes great Chick Lit too

    24. Girl named Rory that s trap in a coma when she is trying to lose her virginity, no one know how to get her out of it So Dr White takes the case, so when he goes to sleep he discover that he s dreaming about Rory and there very sexual dreams they are so real that he start to sleep often He asked his brother s ex girlfriend for help that s a teacher in voodoo, to help him find a way to wake her up.I like it but wished that there was most action beside the bed action, i have to say liked the broth [...]

    25. Enslave was a much better book within this genre , but that could be simple because Enslave builds on my favurite fairy tale, and because I never did buy into the Sleeping Beauty story And mix into this hoodoo and in my mind things just get too watered down had the right idea with Enslave a lot of steam with a little bit of plot that makes could make sense, here it was a bit too out there

    26. I thought this was going to be a great book based on the summary on BN However, while I enjoy the occasional erotic, this books was 80% sex and 20% actual storytelling There are only so many ways to talk about their sexual encounters Poor character development, little storyline, and very little thinking needed for this If you like smut, then you will like this I definitely skipped most of the book

    27. As the title suggested sleeping beauty awoken by prince in the guise of a doctor Beauty was cursed by voodoo priestess instead of a witch and trapped her in a coma Beauty could communicate with doc through dreams As we all know, prince saved beauty and HEA Interesting plot but crippled by one repetitive theme you ll notice this theme definitely because it pretty much I believed takes up 50% of the book Rating 2.5 stars I m feeling generous and will bump it up to 3 stars.

    28. I bought this one because it was on clearance for 2.50 at Barnes and Noble Not my wisest purchase. This book read like an amateur porn video, and had about as much plot development The sex scenes were rather repetitive at least I think so, but I skimmed through most of them and the dialogue Ugh.

    29. Yardley does a great job of updating the tale for an ADULT audienceking a well written combination of story and hot hot sex I do have to admit that even for erotica it was a loooot of sex and towards the end I skimmed a few pages Overall though, an engaging read with interesting characters and sub plots along with the eroticism.
