    1. We just adopted a young Great Pyrenees male from a very caring animal shelter, so how could I not read this heartwarming book The author really gets inside of the head of this wonderful breed and it is fun to read from the dog s perspective I just want to hug my big boy right now and tell him nothing bad will ever happen to him

    2. Full disclosure I adore dogs and they seem to feel the same way about me I d often find myself projecting what my canine friend must be thinking Are those deep brown eyes filled with love or merely yearning for a treat Finally, thanks to author Jean Gill s splendid book I ve now had the privilege to view the world from the grand perspective of a noble hound, Sirius named after the Dog Star Sirius, commonly known as Izzy, is a magnificent white Great Pyrenean Mountain Dog His gigantic stature pro [...]

    3. Someone To Look Up To is a delightful story about a dog born in the Pyrenees with two sisters and four brothers But Sirius is no ordinary dog and he s certainly no straw fowler He s a Soum de Gaia, born of better stock From first bite to tail length drools, power launches and flying, Sirius is a unique dog A dog that wants adventure, a dog that yearns for that breath of love What I loved about this book was a dog s eye view of humans, intuitive and hilarious, and so well written I m convinced I [...]

    4. Sad and beautiful I am an animal lover, owning 5 large house dogs, and I used to own 5 horses One of my dogs, who was a stray who just stayed, and the last dog I acquired is a wonderful and loving Great Pyrenees named Jobi So needless to say, when I saw this book, I knew that I had to read it When I see ads on TV about the homeless and sad dogs, I have to turn the channel, as I can t bare to see those poor little animals I am not a cheapskate who refuses to donate, I am just a poor old person sc [...]

    5. WONDERFUL read and what a genius idea to do it in the first person from the dog s perspective I loved it Read it in one day keep em coming please

    6. Warmth, kindness and understanding Someone to Look Up ToThis story simply oozes love and understanding, and even tough, or precisely because, it is a dog s book, everything in it is as human e as we wish we would be, if we only tried a little Family ties, loyalty, mischief, consolation, kindness, wisdom, respect, experience, a range of thoughts and emotions displayed from a dog s perspective, with deep empathy, but never condescending, mushy or pathetic, toward the main character or the readers [...]

    8. Sirius de Soum de Gaia was born, along with two sisters and four brothers, to two of the best show dogs in history and has always been told to keep his head high, regardless of anything that might happen It is quite hard for Sirius to do that when his master gives him to a family that doesn t want him and brings him to an S.P.A refuge After several weeks at the refuge, Sirius brother, Stratos, comes Sirius is overjoyed Unfortunately, just a few weeks later, Stratos is put down, and Sirius is sen [...]

    9. I LOVED this book It is the story of a Pyrenees named Sirius from his point of view It follows his life from his birth as a member of a prize winning line to his Choosing , his downfall, and his salvation. It was a sort of Marley and Me from the dog s point of view, explaining why he did the things he did It made me think about what I need to be doing different with my dogs We need to love them and it is okay to treat them like children, but, like children, we need to give them boundaries I recei [...]

    10. For the love of dogs It s a dog s life in the south of France From puppyhood, Sirius the Pyrenean Mountain Dog has been trying to understand his humans and train them with kindness Those are the first words in Jean Gill s introduction of Someone To Look Up To and what sold me on the book The promise of humour, kindness and wisdom came through and beyond in the story It amazed me how much pleasure one can get from a book like this where the main character is a dog with an amazing personality and [...]

    11. The joy and sadness of life told by a Great Pyrenees Our Great Pyrenees is 2 1 2 yrs old and not only is our guard dog but a multi trained service dog Having had him since he was a tiny fluff ball, it was easy to assimilate many of the activities in the book with our adventures in training Monte GP s tend to have a 7 second delay in training, they need to reason things out before THEY agree to assimilate The author does a great job of explaining this I also loved how she nailed when he was confi [...]

    12. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review And honest I will be, with ease This is a delightful book told by a Pyrenean Mountain Dog named Sirius His story begins when he s a puppy and follows him thru several families and a dog shelter In the shelter he learns much Life is hysterical from a dog s perspective as he trains his humans, stealing underwear and making them chase him in order to see they get enough exercise I d like to say it s all fun, but like any good sto [...]

    13. This is a story told from a dog s point of view As a dog owner myself I loved it although it was very sad in places The story is narrated by Izzie AKA Sirius de Soum de Gaia Pyrenean Mountain Dog and follows the story of himself, his siblings Stratos, Sancho, Septimus and Snow when they leave their mother The Choosing takes them in very different directions I won t say too much for fear of spoiling your read If you are dog owner it will certainly make you think.

    14. Dog s P.O.V Really Grips YouThis book is masterfully told from a dog s point of view It engages the reader from the beginning and never lets go The dog s, Sirius s, life has some interesting twists and turns In the end without giving the end away, I had tears in my eyes This wonderful book was a quick read, it was so enjoyable.

    17. Training Humans A review of the novel Someone to look up to Happiness is a warm puppy Charles M SchulzAuthor Jean Gill s novel Someone to look up to the story of a special dog narrates the story of Sirius a Pyrenean mountain dog living in France Working as a sort of memoir, it follows Sirius s life from when he was a little puppy living with his fluffy little brothers and sisters, to growing up amongst humans, always working hard to ensure that the humans were trained to meet his every need And [...]

    19. Preliminary I am only 21% done I have had a lot of dogs, and I have gone through all kinds of training with my dogs and by my dogs It is very humorous reading a book from a strong willed dog s point of yew about how human actions and reactions are interpreted by a pup It is going to interesting to see just how much damage the humans are going to let happen before they figure out how to actually communicate the right messages with their K9 pack member Of course, these humans are clueless, and hav [...]

    20. Sirius is a Great Pyrennes, born in France at the foot of the Pyrennes Mountains, of a very distinguished line. His is not to be the life of a show dog however. The story is told through the eyes of Sirius. It is not a life, for the most part, that anyone would want for their dog.A life started with hope and promise, but quickly filled with disillusionment, cruelty, and ignorance. This book is what I would call a teachable moment for the reader. It is a look into the world of the dog breeder, the mind [...]

    21. I received this book free Thank you so much Jean It is a wonderful book I enjoyed seeing the book written from a dog s perspective
