    1. I ve got a hit Lichfiend A lichfiend Gadzooks What s a lichfiend They come from the bridge to the land of the dead They breathe in ill will and breathe out soul separating terror, which takes the form of a fog Or a mist They couldn t have used the word mist It s much a mist than a fog Hush, I m still reading They create a special type of revenant undead that devour the soul but not the flesh, blood or bone A new revenant is created when an old revenant sucks out the soul of a living being The l [...]

    2. A fun quick read that does not take itself very seriously The heroine is a young woman who is prone to silliness and frivolity in language Mildly amusing at first, it segued into annoying as she was taking on a job, but a little skimming fixed that up fine One past her verbal gymnastics with ignorant third parties, she could settle into playful friend talk with her cyborg The hunt for the monster ended up being rather interesting A strange little twist tacked on at the end was unnecessary but mi [...]

    3. Obvious, but fun I would definitely read by this author, especially if it follows these characters What grabbed me was the part about the head shots 4 fun stars and highly recommended.

    4. The twee approach to Edwardian steampunk clockwork ridiculousness mixed with fantasy reminded me strongly of Gail Carriger, specifically the Finishing School series. However, it was all very disjointed with new plot points cropping up all over the place with no build up or foreshadowing, which distracted from my enjoyment of the story view spoiler Also, after reading The Weather by the same author, I have to wonder how many of her stories are going to be based around zombie twists Unique zombie t [...]

    5. This story sort of fits into the humorous fantasy semi Victorian sub genre of steampunk made popular by Gail Carriger s novels I found it really charming clever, engrossing and deliberately silly It s actually a bit too clever and silly for its own good, but I enjoyed it very much just the same.

    6. You re always in danger of losing your soul A pleasant, self contained bit of steam punk fantasy, sort of Not a waste of time The cannon must simply always be.

    7. That was really delightful, and felt like a teaser prequel for a longer novel I ll keep my eyes open, because I d like to spend time with the irrepressible and slightly annoying Miss Pippa Kipling and her automaton, Ms the Porter who reminds me a little bit of K 2SO from the Star Wars movie Rogue One An extra star for ridiculous words I m a sucker for ridiculous words such as the realm renowned torture serum, the Screamatogizer Read it for yourself, here tor 2016 11 16 a pest

    8. A steampunk short story, featuring Miss Pippa Kipling and her automaton companion, the Porter, in their paid quest to exterminate pests of the supernatural variety What should be a typical job in your average haunted cavern soon derails in an inconveniently undead fashion Even with the aid of her gadget collection and the Porter s prowess, this task may prove fatal for Miss Kipling or worse, rip her petticoat.I really hope to see of Miss Pippa and Ms The Porter in the future, they make up an en [...]

    9. Another steampunk story I didn t hate I m on a roll lately A Pest Most Fiendish is a comedic see Tor, you do have comedic stories little short about a Victorian woman and her automaton hunting down a strange Lichfiend It feels a bit like it comes from a greater universe that I would benefit from knowing about, but I think that it is a standalone Regardless, it was a silly, quick read with a saucy female lead that I quite enjoyed.
