    1. Shatter by Aprilynne Pike is the second book in the young adult fantasy Glitter series The series is set in a futuristic version of Versailles in which people have modern technology and comforts yet they still live as if it s the eighteenth century as far as dress and society is concerned. The main character Danica was being pushed by her mother towards a future as the queen of Versailles but she had other plans of trying to escape Dani had gone to the extreme measure of secreting dealing a new d [...]

    2. As trashy as the first book in this series was, I loved it and I DESPERATELY want the next one What can I say, I m a sucker for Marie Antoinette and spoiled heroines who learn to become jaded souls D

    3. Disclaimer This book was sent to me by the publisher, Random House Children s, via NetGalley for an honest review Opinion OoOoOo can you guys hear that It sounds almost like like ravenous courtiers inebriated on Glitter rouge and lipstick Or maybe it s the whimsical musings of backstabbing, and one or two dead bodies Perhaps robots Or even likely, crushed dreams of freedom and public displays of forced affection and bliss One thing is for sure, some s t just hit an eight tier chandelier at the [...]

    4. After the ending of Glitter, I was quite eager to see what the sequel had in store My main interest is that I wanted to see if Danica would redeem herself I liked her and just like with the first book, she was easy to hate Some of her decisions were questionable, even if her intentions are good I loved the tension in Danica s scenes with Justin and how they balanced the underlying sweetness of the scenes with Saber Plot wise, it did get a bit repetitive here and there, but there were a few thing [...]

    5. ARC received in exchange for an honest review I always love when the name of the book is as good as the book and the cover, and I just loved this cover and love it even since I completed the book Shatter is the second book in the Glitter series by Aprilynne Pike, and Shatter is what you get The explosive shattering world of drugs, disloyalty, love, power that about sums it up As I enjoyed reading the first one, I loved this second book The culmination of everything the growth of the characters, [...]

    6. So I kind of hated Saber this time.I loved book one, but it s been a while since I read it I was kind of afraid that I d forgotten everything Nope, I was able to get right back into this one I will say, however, that you MUST read book 1 in order to understand this one It doesn t work as a standalone.I loved Danica I realize many people might not She gets downright ruthless in this book She grows into everything we always knew she could be even if it isn t everything she should be She s bright, [...]

    7. 3.5Received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest reviewI was SO excited for this book after receiving Glitter as an ARC through NetGalley last year I fell in love with the characters and the intrigue I adore books about France, Versailles, and Marie Antoinette, so it was right up my alley Glitter left off with a cliffhanger and I couldn t wait to get my hands on Shatter When I received the ARC from NetGalley, I was thrilled While I enjoyed Shatter for what it was, it did not live up to my ex [...]

    8. Having enjoyed the originality of Glitter, this book s predecessor and glorying in the almost unredeemable evilness of some of the characters, I was anxious to see if Danica Grayson could redeem herself and somehow get out of the king s clutches Honestly, in many ways she proved to be her own worst enemy as time and time again, she made mistakes, underestimated others, and compromised some of her own beliefs and values Just as Glitter, the drug laced makeup that she continues to sell to the cour [...]

    9. my review of the first one was as follows the concept is fascinating the lack of backstory to that concept is disappointing the love story is also blah the drug trade is interesting to a point I will maybe read the sequel I will maybe skim the sequel I did actually read this sequel than skim it I wish I hadn t bothered everything I said about the first held true in this one except the drug trade was SLIGHTLY interesting the slave trade was less interesting The love story was even worse this w [...]

    10. I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House Books for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. The cover though So beautiful Shatter is book 2 in the Glitter series As Danica s plan to escape the Palace of Versailles slips through her fingers she finds herself married to the murderous King As Danica settles into her new role she becomes addicted to her role as Queen and her new found power. There is a lot going on in this book as well as some unexpected twists and turns This book [...]

    11. Sequel to Glitter and I am assuming the conclusion of the story though one can never say for sure.I enjoyed seeing Danica embrace her power as queen and she was likable as she was honest with her friends about glitter, though at that point they were already addicts Lots court intrigue in fancy dress LOVED the ending.Good for ages 15 and up recreational drug use though often unwittingly , drug dealing, inference of sex but no details.

    12. Thanks to the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review, This doesn t in any way influence my opinion on it.Shatter by Aprilynne Pike is the sequel to the amazing Glitter that rocked my world earlier this year I am a huge fan of the author and I really enjoyed Glitter so I was expecting to love Shatter and I definitely did Shatter begins with the aftermath of Danica s wedding to King Justin The sting from Reginald s betrayal is still sharp but she had no choice but to think [...]

    13. I received a digital ARC of this book from Edelweiss.I definitely enjoyed this better than I thought I would The first book I gave 3 stars, maybe 3.5.I loved the idea, it was original and really fun, but there was just something lacking to me in the characters This one had me hooked and I enjoyed the character development for everyone way better The way everyone was playing each other was awesome I really really really enjoyed the last chapter before the epilogue Makes me want to go back and re [...]

    14. Shatter is book two in the Glitter series by Aprilynne Pike and I think I liked this one better than the first book I was successfully pulled back into this world of deception, blackmail, and intrigue and I found myself unable to stop reading. If you recall from book one, Danica was looking for a way out of the world she was trapped in As her escape from the Palace of Versailles was thwarted, Danica finds herself back with the King Justin and trapped in a world where she doesn t feel she belongs [...]

    15. Before I start my attempt at a review, I need to mention two things The first I received this ARC through Netgalley and am providing my honest review The second when I signed up to receive this book through Netgalley, I hadn t realized this was a sequel In fact, I didn t realize this was a sequel until well into the first quarter of the book.I ll back up now and provide an explanation You see, I ve actually met Aprilynne Pike She won t remember me because it was 2012 and it was brief, but I was [...]

    16. My full review can be found on the Epilie Aspie Chick blog Thank you to Random House books for providing a copy of the book in exchange for a fair review My eyebrow raised a lot during this book because it was so satisfying to see soapy drama play out on the page It can be extremely difficult to make this type of drama enjoyable without it coming off as ridiculous or over the top, but this book does that balance like an expert I kept finding myself thinking of the TV show The Royals because the [...]

    17. Danica thought she had the perfect plan to acquire a lot of currency and a way to escape the Palace of Versailles, but when her plan goes sideways not only is she not able to get away, she ends up married to the King Now, Danica, has the court addicted to Glitter and must find a new way to escape this life she is trapped in Danica is Queen, but she must learn to take the power that should be hers by right Will she be able to contrive a new deception and leave the palace for good Will the power s [...]

    18. Danica is now Queen and her main goal is to get Saber released from enslavement She has to figure out how much she is willing to sacrifice for Saber s freedom.I was shocked at the end of Glitter and wanted to know how Danica was going to escape I didn t much care for what she was doing to the people in the kingdom and I can honestly say, Danica is not one of my favorite heroine s.When I started Shatter, I almost gave up reading itmply because it wasn t keeping me interested Thankfully, I kept re [...]

    19. I really enjoyed reading Glitter, book 1 in this series last year but I have to share that I enjoyed reading Shatter, book 2 even I loved this book s setting where near future modern day people live in the The Palace of Versailles as if they are living at the French court in the 1700 s as well as the characters and the plot This book is packed with romance, action and adventure and it had me hooked from start to finish I was a bit blown away at some of the secrets revealed at the end of the boo [...]

    20. I was able to get Glitter on loan from the library, finish it within 24 hours, and start and finish Shatter within a second 24 hours Whew What a ride I very much enjoyed this young adult science fiction story Any questions I had throughout the story was answered what happened to cause Sonoman Versailles to succeed How did Sonoman Versailles stay in business By the end of this duology, I was amazed at the many twists and turns the plot had taken. While my least favorite aspect was the whole slavem [...]

    21. I have been anticipating this book for about a year I remember last year finishing Glitter and NEEDING to know what comes next Thanks to RandomHouse I was able to receive an ARC of Shatter that I devoured in the past 24 hours I absolutely LOVE Glitter and now I can say that I absolutely LOVE Shatter It expands into the story and the inner workings of the society she lives in I enjoyed learning about the politics and scheming that goes on behind closed doors This book kept me turning pages, not [...]

    22. Book two in the Glitter series Dani thought her escape was all paid for and she was betrayed Now she is married to the ruthless king Now Dani is addicted to the power that comes with marriage to the king. Now she must try to see if this new power will secure Saber s freedom and secure them a life together Or will she decide to stay queen I liked the first book Glitter I read it when I was in a dystopian mood I loved the whole idea of a Versailles of the past with technology of the future The desc [...]

    23. Danica got screwed over by her supplier gangster contact, and now she has to attend her own wedding marrying the one man she s afraid of than anyone else She will have to be the Queen, after all. After her wedding, she s still trying to figure out how to win her love Saber s freedom from the lying gangster, when she stumbles on some even stronger reasons to stay, and really become the Queen she needs to be for the good of her people, and everyone else effected by Sonoma Versaille s forays into t [...]

    24. 4 5 stars I liked the sequel to Glitter than the original the story was faster paced and full of twists that I was not expecting I did also appreciate that Dani has to come to terms with her morality and begins to make choices that reflect a better moral character I also enjoyed the connections between issues faced in this future society crop failure and automation replacing human jobs with the same issues that are occurring today And I did enjoy how the story ended, though I wish their would h [...]

    25. Sequel to Glitter had a high bar to reach, and boy, does this book deliver Danica gets even diabolical, to the point you start to worry just as much about her winning as her losing The scopes widen and the stakes get even steeper, much to the reader s shock Cannot wait for book three in the series

    26. I really thought there might be resolution The bad guy getting his, so to speak, but instead the wrap up was swift and unsatisfying Still worth the read I wonder if this is it for Sonoma Versailles or will there be some comeuppance in book three

    27. Sometimes the sequel is just as good Just as addicting as Glitter with even twists and turns I noticed the book has plot twists I didn t see coming and was pleasantly surprised

    28. An easy and engrossing sequel of court intrigue and exciting twists with a satisfying ending Highly recommend as a duology to binge
