    3. The Sky Cult was a fast paced, excellent second book to the Esper Files Picking up shortly after The Esper Files ended, the book starts off with a bang and there are two new villains introduced Jupiter, who can control thunder and lightning, and Lichtmann who can burn people with his touch and exudes a golden light he also thinks he s an angel Jupiter is the leader of the Sky Cult and he believes that the Espers should rule over the non Espers Lichtmann s agenda is to protect Jupiter as long as [...]

    4. After reading the first book Esper Files, I was so fascinated by the idea and the plot of this book that I just couldn t wait to read Book 2 and once I got my hands on it, I finished it real quick BUT as always, life got in the way and I m only now getting to posting its review. The BloggoThis book starts off exactly where the first one left off I don t want to give out a lot of spoilers by explaining the plot but I ll try to explain as much as possible by being as vague as possible So, this revi [...]

    5. This is the second book in this series If you are a fan of steampunk, strong characters, good storyline, and plenty of action, than you have to check this series out Although, I would recommend that you start with the first book, Esper Files It helps to set the stage for this series and who all of the major players as well Nathan, James, and Freya are back fighting for good Yet, I have to comment by saying that I found James to have been a little less of a strong voice in this book Both Nathan a [...]

    6. I received a free copy of this book for my honest review 5 5 StarsSo what can I say except Wow The second installment of the Esper Files series is definitely as suspenseful as the first book if not so There are so many great battle scenes in these books that it s hard to get bored while reading The threats the characters face in this book are greater than that in the first book and I think that s also why I liked this one The characters have a little depth given to them, and I liked that I fe [...]

    7. Esper Files 2 The Sky Cult by Egan Brass is a sequel that does not disappoint I finished this book in two days The action quickly picks up where the first book ended It is quick paced and full of complex action The new villains were superbly written and made you root for the Espers to win The fight scenes were easy to imagine as they happened in the story I can t stop gushing over how much I enjoyed this story I will definitely recommend it to my friends who enjoy steampunk and superheroes I giv [...]

    8. I very much looked forward to starting The Sky Cult by Egan Brass ever since I finished his first work, The Esper Files Brass has managed to avoid the expected letup a second in a series can sometimes deliver The writer has deftly engineered his story to immediately match the pacing on which Esper Files finished. This book indeed this series thus far is just plain fun to read In Book 2 some new, and creatively designed characters enter the story which moves with well determined speed as it moves [...]

    9. I received a copy of this book in exchange for review. My main gripe with the first book in this series was that the character development was lacking I had noted that we knew little to nothing about James, for example In this second book, we learn a little about James I still think there could have been a lot history delving on many of the characters Nathan or the Professor at the foremost Yet, I see an effort was made to expand a little, so that s good Hopefully there are some flashbacks or s [...]

    10. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. After the first book I went into this one with mixed feelings I was hoping the writing would become better with the second book, but it doesn t really feel like it and the X Men inspiration is still far too blatant, especially with the proper introduction of Red Cap The plot is basically hate groups plan to attack a parade and the heroes have to stop them Throw in a phantom thief, some magical gems, and a weapon powered by said [...]

    11. Esper Files The Sky Cult, picks up where the first book left off with Freya now a part of the institute, learning to control her powers as she tries to help keep the peace along with Nathan After the end of the last book, we are introduced to some villains or the bad guys as we normally refer to them Their agenda at first seems quite clear, but as the story progresses, we realize that there is to the front shown. The Sky Cult is brought in for a specific purpose, but is that the whole point of [...]

    12. Superheroes are the best I suggest only reading superhero stories, and Egan Brass can help you out The Esper Files involve a group of people with cool powers and judging from the book cover, a glorious sense of style Naturally, they fight villains That s really all you need to get where this title is going I clicked nostalgic as the story s mood because it reminds me most of 80s and 90s superhero comics Heroes bicker, they talk about their powers, they practice fighting It s somewhere between X [...]

    13. 4.5 starsYou can check out my review of the first book The Esper Files here. The Esper Files The Sky Cult is the second book in a science fiction steampunk series I enjoyed the first book so I was hoping to like this one too and I was not disappointed In fact, I was in for a surprise. The book opens with a very exciting scene Freya has joined the Institute and she and Nathan seem to have become quite a team The writing of this book was still simple but it was fluid than the first one The plot of [...]

    14. Sky Cult hooks you instantly in its opening sequence, where you are introduced to new villains Jupiter and Lichtmann The thrills don t stop there though the whole book is chockful of action sequences I particularly enjoyed the lovable bad guy, the Phantom Thief.Sky Cult is the second book in the Esper Files series The story stands on its own, but you ll miss out on some of the background and character development found in Esper Files Book 1.Esper Files Volume 1Egan Brass

    15. 16. Great read, a cannot put down story that I read in a matter of hours My second read from Egan Brass, the pseudonym for author Ryan Attard, who has moved near the top on my list of favorite authors His books have it all, nonstop action, espers think Marvel s X Men , sarcasm, humor, Steampunk and mutants espers , who could ask for I very much enjoyed this book can t wait for Book 3.

    17. A great follow up to the first book, James, Nathan, the Professor, and all the rest of this diverse magical cast continue protecting the world from natural and supernatural threats, as normal people rise against Espers, unhappy with the inequality of power they perceive.

    18. This is a good story but there s no lull It s always fight fight fight By chapter 15, all you want to do is take a break from it all but then it s of the same for the rest of the book It gets kind of boring for me Throw in some breaks once in a while That at least allows you to breathe.

    19. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this bookG Egan Brass does it again with this gripping, action packed story The Sky Cult will grab readers attention from the very first page with its brilliant display of supernatural powers, thrilling fight scenes, and dark and mysterious plot, I fell in love with this amazing seriesI was giddy with joy as I dived back into this steampunk fantasy novel Egan Brass does not disappoint and gives you everything you loved about the first book All the characters you [...]

    20. Trigger warnings goreOh look, Deadpool. After reading the second installment I m really sure I m not the main target group. It s way too much action and not enough character development But I still read it because I had to know what will happen next I was especially interested in the Sky Cult and the Coalition and I was not disappointed in that showdown. But I was disappointed with the characters I had no chance to get to like them and I felt like again it was inspired by Marvel We ve got an assass [...]

    21. THIS BOOK WAS RECEIVED FROM THE PUBLISHER It has been said before that there are no original thoughts The way to appear original is dependent upon how well you can hide your sources One of my qualms with the Esper Files series from the beginning has been that it feels very derivative Right from the get go, I felt the series was essentially just an X Men clone set in the steampunk genre While this was an interesting concept, too much of it was pulled from the popular franchise, making it a bit di [...]

    22. A phenomenal sequel to The Esper Files, comes The Sky Cult, by Egan Brass This Victorian Steam punk tale sees our heroes Nathan and James once again joined by young Esper, Freya. The complex array of characters, along with a developed plot make for a satisfying read that flows well Events are seen mainly from Nathan and Freya s 3rd person point of view, as well as the perspective of their potential foes as The Institute strives to put down all threats to their establishment.I loved many things ab [...]

    23. Esper Files The Sky Cult is the continuation of the first Esper Files book, and starts shortly after where the first book left off Freya, whose deadly ice powers were revealed in book 1, is now in training at the Institute, and the Esper community is under threat from external misunderstanding and treachery within the House of Lords Fortunately Nathan, James, and Freya are there to save the dayLike the previous book in the series, this book can best be described as steampunk X Men So if that sou [...]

    24. This is Book 2 of the Esper Files series The Espers are back They are a group of people with various super powers, formed when an experiment to generate a massive amount of electricity went wrong.Nathan and his crew encounter a couple of new creatures in this round of adventures One is an Esper assassin in the employ of Hades known as Red Cap He apparently can t be killed The other is not an Esper, just a very talented individual who calls himself the Phantom Thief He goes up against Red Cap and [...]

    25. Amazing This tale keeps you hooked from the start.A steam punk story filled with action sequences just like the first installment, but with new interesting characters joining both sides heroes and foes. The Institute is celebrating Esper Day with big floats and power demonstrations as a way to show society that they are not a threat Meanwhile, there are other plans in place to kill any one with powers, with the development of weapons that can harm or incapacitate espers And since two sides aren t [...]

    26. I m not going to repeat a synopsis of this book That has already been covered by other reviewers and the author, but I will say how much I enjoyed Egan Brass tale This book is non stop action from the first page to the last and encompasses some of the best of the steampunk fantasy genre Filled with original characters and some of the best villains I ve seen in a while, Sky Cult is an exciting and fun read While not great literature, this book is well worth your time Enjoy yourself I received a b [...]

    27. The saga of the espers continues as enemies appear from all sides Many characters are the same, and the level of interaction is very suitable for young adult readers Again, vivid imagination and continuing action keep the story pumping Although it is clear that entries in this series are to be expected, the book follows a story arc to conclusion The combination of Steampunk and superhero powers makes a fun and interesting read.
