The book is a mess There were moments when I thought that maybe Author Brand was mocking some of the tropes found in Gothic literature, for example when it seemed that a man married his own mother by accident, but the book was not over the top enough to be entertaining This was a surprise since once we hit twin swapping to confuse the ghosts and the curse, I thought we might be in for a fun read Parts of the book seem really familiar as though she has mishmashed parts of other well known materia [...]

    2. After loving Green for Danger, this was very disappointing I liked the premise, but the writing was horribly clunky For being so melodramatic, not a lot happened Maybe this is because I m currently reading M.R James appreciating the short story, but I can t help thinking this could have been an excellent novella for the amount of info she provides doesn t provide Much time is spent in explaining over over about the curse, and no time is spent showing why two people are suddenly madly in love Sha [...]

    3. I ve read and loved her mysteries, but this tiresome mess seemed to have been written by someone else entirely The story was drawn out over far too many pages with what seemed like repetitions of entire scenes Such a surprising disappointment.
